Well, USA is officially out of the World Cup race. They gave it their all and I, for one, am very proud of our team. US soccer has a bright future. In the mean time, I can continue to root for my other "home" team, Italy!

I didn't get to see any of the US/Ghana game, but got to see a good part of the Italy/Czech game. Every time Italy scored the whole town shock with air horns and car horns going off all over the place! It would be awesome to be here if/when Italy wins it all! It would be an awesome party!!!

I'm sorry to see USA go, but from this moment and on, FORZA ITALIA!

I take it Italy won?

America has been saying "wait till next time" for too many times.  If she really cared about the sport, America would be dominating it.  I dont think America will ever be first tier.

I was just the opposite--no Italy game, but got to see the US game (actually was on tv--you know when they do the breaks to show people watching the game--I was on one of those!)

The US game was very frustrating to watch. So close so many times, and yet, nothing. It should be noted, however, that Dempsey needs dancing lessons!

Ma certo che si!

I disagree. It takes time to grow interest in a sport. Soccer has played fifth fiddle for a long time, but is beginning to gain popularity. I'm not even talking about dominating, I'm talking about being competitive.

Awesome! Did you have a chance to record it?

I can imagine. I could only follow along with the live scoring on ESPN and it was frustrating to me. I really did want to see it though, but when you're in Italy and the Italians are playing at the same time your team is playing, forget it pal!

It should be noted, however, that Dempsey needs dancing lessons!

You'll have to explain this one to me.

No, I didn't get to record it--and since I was meant to be in work at the time, that's probably for the best.

but when you're in Italy and the Italians are playing at the same time your team is playing, forget it pal!

For some reason I had thought you were back in the US. The atmosphere there must be absolutely briliant!

You'll have to explain this one to me.

I'm not sure what move he was trying to bust after his goal, but someone should tell him to leave the dancing to the Brazilians--they actually have rhythm. If he starts practicing now, he too might have some before the South African World Cup.

Because football (aka 'Sah-kuhr') is not that big at the professional level in the USA, many people think that Team USA are relatively new to the World Cup. A lot of people know that the USA has qualified for every World Cup since 1990, but not so many people are aware that the USA also played in the very first World Cup way back in 1930, reaching the semi-finals. They also qualified in 1934 and again in 1950 where they met England in the tournament for the first time. England were expecting a push-over, but the US team beat us 1-0 ...

... My favourite World Cup Trivia fact: In 1950 India also qualified for the World Cup, but withdrew after FIFA refused to allow them to play in bare feet.

Tonight, here in Korea, all eyes are on the Korean team who need to beat Switzerland to go through to the next round (unless the Togolese should pull off a surprise victory over France). Because of the time difference the game starts at 4:00 am here, but virtually every bar here will still be open.

Let's just put it down to great minds think alike! : )

I'm rooting for Italia too!

Not knowing Italian, but knowing the outcome, I beleive you just said, "but of course".  Or something to that effect.  Thanks for the lesson.

I remember reading about that one.  They took that worse than the loss in the Revolutionary war.

Dr.Guy: You've got a lot of nerve trying to pal around with my brother after the crap you've said to and about me.

Do you think he wouldn't care about that and you could just be all friendly with him? He missed the drama, but I'll be sure to alert him to the trash you've talked about me.

I am not sure I am convinced that the US doesn't have the talent the other countries do we just don't have a program to bring them together to be on the same page as a team. Individually many of our athletes are very comparable to other countries but I see in too many sports where we just pull people from different teams and say okay you have a few months to play and practice together. Our approach to these games need to change. JMO

I'm for the Auzzies mate.
