A Gluten at His Best!

I don’t know if I will be able to eat tomorrow. Come to think of it, I may not be able to eat the day after either. Simply put, I’m full.

Tonight Amanda and I went out with a group of friends composed of people from Taranto and Latiano to eat at a special meat restaurant in Crispiano. It was delicious. And it was also expensive, but let’s make sure to put the horse meat before the wagon, so to speak.

We left about 8:30 p.m. from Taranto to arrive early enough to beat the crowds in Crispiano. By that time, I was starting to get just a little bit hungry. I am used to eating supper this late (and later), but I purposely didn’t eat a snack in the afternoon to make sure I had enough room to be a gluten.

Let me take a moment to describe this restaurant to you. During the week it is just a regular meat store, but on weekends and certain nights during the summer, it becomes a high end steak and sausage joint. What you do is this; you go in, look at the meat and then tell them what you want. They grill it, and bring it right out to you. I was loving it.

One of the items that I was told that I just had to try was a type of meat roll, made with beef heart, lung and liver. I was a little hesitant, but I have made a vow to myself to try everything at least once, so I dove right in on the task on hand. They weren’t too bad; however, the ones we got were a little too fatty for my tastes.

They brought out so much meat and salad and cheese and mozzarella (mozzarella is not a cheese IMO), I just knew I was sinning. But that’s okay, tomorrow’s Sunday. : )

At the end of the meal there was still quite a bit of meat left on the table. So what do the guys decide to do? We decide to play a game to see who has to eat the rest of the meat. You have to understand that at this point we are all completely stuffed. What we did was this, everyone throw out a number with their right hand, we counted up the fingers and then numbered off. Where ever the last number landed, that person had to eat a previously selected potion of meat. Luckily it didn’t land on me.

Anyways, we had a great time hanging out, eating meat and telling jokes. Now, if I can get up out of this chair, I am going to bed. If I can’t, I’ll just wait here till church time.

Dr. Guy - The meat was good, but I'm from Texas and I grew up on the grill (just a figure of speech). However, one time we did go our for seafood at a pricey resturant one time. It ended up costing about $30 a person, but it was worth it and then some!

Mom - No, it tasted pretty much like liver, only fatty and a little charred. : ) Love you guys!
