Perseverance and compassion to get through the years
Love and tenderness to get through the tears
Pride and passion to stand for the right
Strength and courage to stand for the fight
Hugging your children, but crying inside
Trying to run, yet with no place to hide
Standing your ground, facing your fears
Guarding your family when danger nears
Growing closer and growing apart
Sharing and protecting your delicate heart
Waking each day with tiny hands to hold
Spending each night in a bed grown cold
Trying to be whole with half of you missing
Wanting to touch, yet can only be listening
Loving your life, yet hating each day
Saying goodbye, if only he could stay
A wonderful mother, an amazing wife
Breathtaking beauty, in a giving life
A fantastic sister, an eternal friend
A helpful heart with hands to lend
An amazing example of what I would like to be
A calming peace in a storm raged sea
Sailing on, with love ones held near
Holding on, for that morning light to appear
I see in you such a wonderful person. Pure and honest. Many times I have longed to go back to those barefooted walks through a rain drenched town, to roasting marshmallows on paperclips with a lighter, to those long talks about life and love. Many times I have just longed to be near to you again. To hear you laugh and see you smile. To be at one of your parties again. I long to look over and see you sitting in A’s lap with two boys climbing all over you. I long to hold your hand, to hug you, to let you know that I am there for you. But most of all, I just long to be able to tell you that I love you. Because I do.
My prays are with you always, always.
