The Next Generation in Pocket Knives

The other day I was looking through an add for a local supermarket (well, it is more like a European Wal-Mart) and saw an add for this:

It has to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long, long time. To me, however, it makes sense. The Swiss Army knives we all grew up with have taken the next logical step. They have always prided themselves in usefulness and convenience. The Swissmemory USB Victorinox provides both.

Currently I have a Victorinox Signature and I absolutely love it! I use it all the time for various tasks. Needless to say, I have it with me at all times. However…

I sure am hoping that Babbo Natale will drop off a Swissmemory in my stocking this Christmas!

That is kind of funny, and as you say, I guess the next inevitable evolution.  However, it is not air travel safe in the US!

Yeah, my wife and I looked into these a little while ago, when we were shopping for thumb drives.

We ended up agreeing that it was a neat idea, but somewhat overpriced. In the end, we decided that several more gigs of storage was more cost-effective than a couple blades we couldn't even take on an airplane.

Yeah, and even though the ad does say it, I doubt it is safe for many European flights as well!

That's what gets me. That are definitely overpriced, and like you said, it's not too hard to get more gigs for your buck.

Hey, my wife just pointed out that the air travel safe one only has the pen and the memory stick. Kind of defeats the point of buying a memory stick from Victorinox though, if you don't get the knives the come with it!
